The National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) is an independent examination board delivering vocational qualifications in health, safety and environmental practice and management.

Who is this course suitable for?

The NEBOSH Construction Certificate is suitable for those working in or wanting to pursue a career in the construction industry.

For example, construction site managers/supervisors, construction health & safety advisors, and contractor managers.

 

How long does it take to complete the qualification?

If you choose classroom learning, the course will take place over nine days with additional online revision and an online exam. 

There will be a minimum of 68 taught hours & approx. 40 hours of own study & reading

If you choose eLearning, the course requires approximately 100-110 hours of self-led learning.

The NEBOSH Health & Safety Management Construction Certificate programme consists of 13 elements:

  • Element 2 - Improving health and safety culture and assessing risk

  • Element 8 - Musculoskeletal health and load handling
  • Element 9 - Work equipment
  • Element 10- Electricity
  • Element 11- Fire
  • Element 12- Chemical and biological agents
  • Element 13- Physical and psychological health

What are the learning outcomes for this course?

The participant will learn how to manage health and safety effectively, confidently carry out risk assessments, and identify and control common construction hazards. Learning outcomes will also include the following:

  • An understanding of the UK's legal requirements.
  • Advise on the main roles, competencies and duties under construction legislation and on a range of general construction site issues
  • The development and implementation of a detailed action plan.

The participant will also partake in incident investigations, and be able to assess and evaluate risks, recognise a range of common hazards, and recommend further control measures.

 

How is this course assessed?

The NEBOSH Health and Safety Management for Construction Certificate course consists of one assessment:

Unit CN1- An open book written exam that candidates will have 48 hours to complete. It requires them to answer a set of questions relating to a real-life scenario.

The cost of the examination is included when booking the classroom course.

If booking the eLearning, the exam will be an additional fee and must be booked separately.

How long is the NEBOSH Health and Safety Management for Construction Certificate valid for?

This qualification, once completed, is valid for life.
